San Francesco d'Assisi invece percorreva la distanza di 140 km tra la sua città natia ed il santuario attraverso il Cammino di San Francesco, La Verna-Assisi. Io ho fatto solo l'ultimo tratto del percorso, nel crinale della montagna sopra il mio paese, in 5 ore giungendo fino al santuario, per due volte.
Una passeggiata immersa nel paesaggio Casentinese, con una tappa all'Eremo della Casella, isolato nel crinale Casentinese, una volta giunti alla porta del Santuario percorrendo l'ultimo tratto in salita dove si svolge la Via Crucis si ha una sensazione di essere un viandante e quel luogo ti accoglie con tutta la sua spiritualità.
Invito chiunque va a visitare il Santuario di percorrere quell'ultimo tratto di sentiero, dal paese, invece di arrivare dal parcheggio fuori
il Santuario. Poi il resto della visita è una scoperta dei luoghi a lui dedicati, da non perdere.
