La Vanessa cardui ha una biologia molto interessante, gli individui adulti che osserviamo in Europa compiono una migrazione da record. Sembra incredibile ma dall' Islanda, punto più a nord del loro viaggio, dove arrivano in estate migrano, all' inizio dell' autunno, verso sud fino all'Africa tropicale, dove passano l'inverno, ben 15000 km di viaggio, dove milioni di Vanesse che volano a 500m dal terreno facendosi aiutare dai venti e senza l'aiuto di individui che hanno già fatto questo spostamento in quanto lo compiono solo una volta, poi muoiono.
