Bubulcus ibis Specie L'airone guardabuoi è un uccello appartenente alla famiglia degli Ardeidi. L'areale dell'airone guardabuoi comprende gran parte dell'Asia, dell'Africa, delle Americhe e dell'Europa meridionale, compresa l'Italia, dove la presenza è regolare solo dagli anni '80. La prima nidificazione documentata in Italia è avvenuta in Sardegna nel 1985, anche se esemplari in abito nuziale sono stati segnalati nello stesso periodo in altre regioni. Successivamente sono state documentate nidificazioni in Piemonte e poi in altre regioni. Il suo territorio di attestazione si sta espandendo e negli ultimi anni si è assistito ad un aumento delle popolazioni e delle nidificazioni in tutta Italia
