Durante una vacanza in Valle d'Aosta nell'estate 2019, ho pianificato un'escursione all'alba al Lago d'Arpy. La mia idea era di intraprendere il sentiero ancora con l'oscurità per arrivare al lago a circa 2000 metri di quota al sorgere del sole. Per cui mi sono svegliato alle 4.30 del mattino e anche se in cielo non vedevo le stelle, ho deciso di partire. Ho iniziato il sentiero a piedi con la torcia sulla fronte avvolto dalle tenebre più totali. Durante i 40 minuti di cammino ha iniziato a rischiararsi anche se il cielo rimaneva coperto. Appena sono arrivato al lago il tempo è peggiorato sensibilmente e presto è sopraggiunta una pioggia battente. Mi sono riparato avvolto nel kway sotto un larice convinto a non demordere nonostante il freddo e la pioggia incessante. La mia perseveranza mi ha ripagato e dopo un'ora ha smesso di piovere e si è aperto il cielo regalandomi un'alba, o meglio una tarda alba, ancora più gustata. Ero da solo. Solo io e la natura. Mi sono sentito connesso alla natura come mai prima d'ora avendo vissuto in solitudine tutti gli elementi naturali. Io e la natura selvaggia, da soli. Ho poi girato il lago in lungo e in largo e solo verso le 11.00 del mattino sono arrivate timidamente altre persone. Ma io ero lì dalla notte ad assaporare la montagna.
