La Race for the Cure è nata a Dallas, negli Stati Uniti nel 1982. Ogni anno nel mondo, ci sono oltre 130 Race che coinvolgono circa un milione di partecipanti. Nel 2000 la Race for the Cure è arrivata in Italia, a Roma, nello splendido scenario del Circo Massimo, spostandosi poi successivamente alle Terme di Caracalla dal 2001 al 2012 e tornando al Circo Massimo dall'edizione 2013. L'attrice Rosanna Banfi è la testimonial delle “Donne in Rosa” e madrina della manifestazione, praticamente da sempre, è l'attrice Maria Grazia Cucinotta. Insieme prestano generosamente il loro volto e la loro voce per le tante iniziative di sensibilizzazione e di promozione dell'evento.
