Uno dei 4 telescopi che compongono il VLT (Very Large Telescope) presso l'osservatorio dell'ESA di Paranal in Cile. Questa struttura costituisce lo strumento ottico più avanzato al mondo. I raggi laser servono a creare una stella artificiale focalizzata a circa 90 km di altezza, in modo da compensare in tempo reale le turbolenze dell'atmosfera grazie ad attuatori che apportano correzioni in tempo reale allo specchio.
