Foglie basali palmatosette con 3 – 5 segmenti a loro volta variamente divisi o lobati, portate da un picciolo di 5 – 10 cm, le cauline che formano un verticillo sotto il fiore sono semplici o triforcate. Fiori solitari all'apice del fusto, con numerosi (8) 12-13 (20) sepali petaloidi ellittico-lanceolati, rosa-azzurrini, bianchi o violetti, con nervature violette, stami azzurro-violetti e numerosi pistilli Il frutto e un acheneto, frutto multiplo formato di acheni derivati da carpelli liberi e indipendenti. Antesi: Febbraio - Maggio. Habitat: Vive nei luoghi aridi, prati asciutti, radure, oliveti dal piano a 1.200 m.
