Parco Nazionale Huascaran ? Valle Huacrapasca. La titanca (Puya raimondii Harms, 1928), anche nota come regina delle Ande, è la più grande pianta della famiglia delle Bromeliaceae, endemica delle Ande .Cresce ad una altitudine di 3200 ? 4800 m raggiungendo e superando i 10 metri di altezza. La sua infiorescenza a pannocchia emerge dopo 80-100 anni di vita. Dopo la fioritura la pianta muore. Fu scoperta da Antonio Raimondi nella zona di Chavin , uno scienziato e botanico italiano che scrisse: “Il botanico che ha la fortuna di sorprendere queste insolite e straordinarie piante nel corso della loro fioritura non può far altro che fermarsi per qualche tempo e contemplarne estasiato la meravigliosa bellezza”.
