Scusate ma NON è un fiocco di neve, bensì un CRISTALLO.
Esso si forma attorno al cosiddetto "nucleo di condensazione" (un granello di polvere o polline, sospesi a grandi altezze e a temperatura di molto inferiore allo zero).
Senza questo nucleo il vapore acqueo non si condenserebbe e avremmo solo la nebbia.Eeeek!!!
La struttura è sempre a base esagonale e segue la geometria frattale, per cui basta una variazione infinitesimale di temperatura e/o umidità per produrre cristalli sempre diversi (si dice infatti che non ne esistano due uguali...).
Un cristallo può avere un diametro fino a tre-quattro millimetri e quindi è ben visibile (in condizioni particolari) ad occhio nudo e può mantenere la sua struttura se la temperatura è inferiore al punto di fusione.
Il FIOCCO invece è un agglomerato di cristalli più o meno grande.
Spero di non aver tolto la poesia alla foto...ma la nivologia fa parte del mio mestiere...

In ogni caso, complimenti: fotografarlo non è per niente facile.
