Assunzione della Vergine di Guido Reni, 1617 Guido Reni (Bologna, 4 novembre 1575 ? Bologna, 18 agosto 1642) è stato uno dei massimi esponenti del classicismo seicentesco. Fu tra i maggiori artisti del tempo, molto apprezzato dai contemporanei, operò a Roma, a Napoli ma soprattutto nella sua città natale. Vicino al classicismo carraccesco seppe darne un'interpretazione personale e controllata, che al di là dello studio dei classici lascia intravedere un reale apprezzamento della corposità barocca, all'interno di una struttura elegante e rigorosa e di un altissimo uso del colore.
