ono stato sempre affascinato dalla cultura dei popoli lontani ed in particolare delle genti che colonizzarono le isole del Pacifico. Un tra queste è l'Isola di Pasqua dove rimane il mistero della realizzazione nel 1200 a.C. delle statue Moai. Quello che pochi sanno è anche in Italia si trova un Moai ed è l'unico esistente al mondo fuori dall'Isola di Pasqua. Si trova a Vitorchiano (VT), un borgo di origine etrusca. Il Moai di Vitorchiano non è antico: è stato scolpito nel 1990 da undici Maori originari dall'Isola di Pasqua, invitati dalla trasmissione RAI “Alla ricerca dell'Arca” a realizzare un programma di gemellaggio culturale. Poiché gli originali Moai si stanno deteriorando, la televisione di Stato si adoperò per scovare una pietra vulcanica simile a quella delle cave dell'Isola di Pasqua per poterne costruire uno nuovo. La trovò proprio a Vitorchiano: un enorme blocco di peperino del peso di 30 tonnellate. Fu scolpito con asce manuali e pietre taglienti dagli indigeni Maori della famiglia Atanm, proveniente dall'Isola di Rapa Nui (Cile). “Gli autori, spiegarono i costruttori dopo aver danzato intorno alla pietra, è una scultura sacra: porto prosperità al luogo che osserva, a patto che non venga mai spostata. Se vien mosso dal punto in cui viene scolpito, provoca grandi sciagure”. Lo startrail è stato realizzato con 180 scatti da 30 secondi ciascuno con una ottica da 20mm chiusa ad f/4 e la reflex impostata a 400Iso.
