Una surreale immagine dello Strokkur, a Geysir, in procinto di esplodere in tutta la sua potenza di vapore ed energia. I Geysir sono un fenomeno particolare, si tratta di cavità geotermali con una determinata forma in cui fluisce l'acqua che accumulano vapore e pressione, fino a diventare instabili, esplodendo in colonne d'acqua bollente e vapore, di 8-10 metri nel caso dello Strokkur. Nella stessa area è presente lo Stori Geysir, o Great Geysir, che in passato ha generato colonne d'acqua di 100 metri e oltre, ma la sua attività è piuttosto irregolare e non si risveglia dall'anno 2000. Pare che sia stato persino ostruito dalle pietre lanciate da turisti maleducati, nel tentativo di "risvegliarlo" in loro presenza. Lo Strokkur, al contrario, è caratterizzato da un'attività costante ed erutta ogni 3-4 minuti, garantendo lo spettacolo per tutti. Si resta basiti dal fatto che, tutt'attorno, vi siano cartelli che invitano i turisti a NON lanciare monetine e pietre nella pozza che origina il fenomeno: personalmente non mi verrebbe MAI in mente di lanciare oggetti di qualsiasi tipo nel Geysir, principalmente per una forma di rispetto verso il luogo che visito, per cui mi stupisce che sia necessario "ricordare" ai turisti con numerosi cartelli che tale pratica sia vietata. Al mondo, vi sono solo 7 località in cui è attivo il fenomeno dei geyser
