, 1 sec f/3.5, ISO 100,

An 89 shot focus stack of a Hornet mimic hoverfly (Volucella zonaria). Yes, this is a deceased insect, but rather than leaving it lying on the floor, I thought I would take some photo's of it. My set up was 5d2 + full set extension tubes + tamron 180mm + reversed Nikon 50mm + focus rail and cable release. Thanks for looking, cheers! :)

Congratulations for the great patience to assemble so many shots, but they give you the possibility of a significant detail.

A lovely stack mate, great light and colours but stunning details;-)
What rail are you using??

avatarsupporter
sent on November 28, 2012 (15:43)

Cheers Paul, much appreciated mate, i'm using a novoflex rail, but I reckon a "Proxxon KT 70 MICRO Compound Table " (not meant for photography) would be better? (as mentioned by John Hallmen)
Hope you are well dude :-)

Wow steve, you're excelling in many fields! I'm completely new to macros, and I'm wondering why to focus stack so many shots instead of closing the aperture?
