Testugine gigante di Aldabra (Aldabrachelys gigantea), una delle specie di testugini piu grandi al mondo, potendo raggiungere i 250 kg e 120 cm di lunghezza. Come si evince dal nome è originaria dell'atollo di Aldabra, nell'oceano Indiano ; alcune popolazioni sono state introdotte nelle Seychelles. Straordinariamente longeve possono vivere più di 200 anni. Questo esemplare è stato fotografato sull'isola di Mahe' , la più grande delle Seychelles, in ambiente controllato. Mi ricorda molto Moria la tartaruga millenaria di "La Storia Infinita" un film che mi piaceva tanto da bambino.
