Si tratta di un lago marino nel qual sono presenti 4 specie di meduse non urticanti. il lago si è formato all'interno di un cono vulcanico ormai inattivo isolando cosi una parte di mare dall'oceano circostante. Nel corso dei millenni la mancanza di predatori ha fatto perdere la capacità urticante a queste meduse. Al mondo esistono solo due laghi con queste caratteristiche. L'atro lago, ben più famoso, si trova in Micronesia a Palau
