L'uso dell'acqua in fotografia è sempre stato molto importante, e consente di ottenere scatti particolari e insoliti, soprattutto se combinato a tempi di esposizione abbastanza lunghi. Infatti l'acqua corrente, se ritratta con tempi superiori al mezzo secondo, produce un effetto vellutato che l'occhio umano non può percepire naturalmente, e che quindi colpisce e affascina l'osservatore. E' il caso di questa fotografia, in cui sono riuscito a ritrarre un dettaglio dell'Isolo di Gavardo combinando insieme il colore giallo autunnale di una foglia caduta con l'effetto velluto dell'acqua; la sola foglia infatti non avrebbe reso così bella questa fotografia, che è anche una delle mie preferite. E' stato ovviamente necessario il treppiede, visto il tempo di scatto lungo, anche se un tempo ancora più lungo avrebbe accentuato l'effetto velluto dell'acqua; questo però non è stato possibile data la troppa luce disponibile, e infatti per avere un tempo di scatto di 1'' ho dovuto abbassare gli ISO a 100 (valore minimo per la 450d) e chiudere il diaframma al massimo, a f/22. Nonostante tutto questo però trovo la foto molto bella, soprattutto perché nulla è stato ottenuto in post produzione, ma è tutto merito dei ragionamenti e degli accorgimenti presi prima dello scatto.
