Tignola grigia della farina: caratteristiche Adulto ? Lunghezza 7-9 mm con un'apertura alare compresa tra 15 e 20 mm. Ali anteriori grigie con striature nere zig zag. Larva ? rosa o verdastra a seconda dell'alimento di cui si nutre. Testa di colore marrone. Vive all'interno di un bozzolo di seta. Ciclo vitale 152 giorni a 17°C, 42 giorni alla temperatura ottimale di 30°C. Gli adulti vivono 2 settimane. Abitudini: raramente attacca prodotto differenti dalla farina. Gli adulti tendono a riposarsi durante il giorno ed a volare dopo il tramonto. Le bave sericee delle larve possono bloccare i macchinari nei mulini. Le larve si incrisalidano in nascondigli sui muri, riparandosi con una tela sericea. Farine e semole sono il loro substrato alimentare preferito. Gli adulti sfarfallano durante tutto l'anno. Preferiscono luoghi non ventilati e di poca luce, stanno nascosti durante il giorno dentro fessure o in altri ambienti riparati; si spostano.
