La Thistlegorm era una nave mercantile britannica affondata il 6 ottobre 1941 nel Mar Rosso, nei pressi della barriera corallina di Sha'ab Alì, nel Golfo di Suez, Sinai occidentale. Venne riscoperta nel 1955 dal comandante Cousteau che tenne nascosta la sua ubicazione fino al 1996 quando venne individuata da uno skipper israeliano .Da allora è diventata la meta di crociere sub .Le sue stive erano stracolme di munizioni, autocarri, bombe, motociclette, ricambi di ali di aerei leggeri e venne affondata quasi per errore dagli aerei dell'esercito tedesco. Entrare nelle sue stive è una emozione unica, cumuli di fucili erosi dall'acqua di cui si riconoscono le sole parti metalliche, proiettili di cui si può ancora leggere il lotto e la data di fabbricazione, camion ancora allineati nella posizione di stivaggio, con nei cassoni quello che resta delle moto trasportate e tanti pesci che fanno da cornice a questo spettacolo affascinante.Nel giorno in cui ci siamo immersi ( 2 tuffi) c'era un pò di corrente e molta sospensione,ma ne è valsa la pena.
