Così come lo scatto precedente, anche questo è stato realizzato all'alba sul lungolago di Salò, in una fredda mattina di fine gennaio. Questo tipo di fotografia era una di quelle che mi ero prefisso di fare, complice il cielo limpido senza nuvole che ha consentito di avere un bellissimo riflesso sulle acque del lago del sole nascente. Quando ho visto la folaga che nuotava proprio parallela al sole ho capito che era il momento giusto, ho smontato il 18-55, ho montato il 55-250 e mi sono dato all'inseguimento. Per l'esposizione ho usato la misurazione spot, valutandola sul bordo del riflesso del sole, così da non avere il lago troppo scuro ma nemmeno sole e riflesso bruciati. Una volta memorizzata l'esposizione mi sono dato all'inseguimento; la folaga infatti non si è fermata un attimo, e dato che la volevo esattamente sotto il sole ho dovuto fare molti tentativi prima di ottenere qualche scatto buono. In post produzione poi ho ritagliato leggermente la foto, visto che non era perfettamente simmetrica ma aveva un po' troppo spazio sulla destra; ritengo che la simmetria sia fondamentale nella composizione, ma bisogna utilizzarla con attenzione: l'occhio umano è molto sensibile, e se non è pressoché perfetta ci si accorge subito degli sbilanciamenti. Ottenere già in fase di scatto una foto perfettamente simmetrica, dovendo prestare anche attenzione alla posizione dell'uccello rispetto al sole era davvero difficile, un leggero crop è stato quindi l'ideale per ottenere una composizione bilanciata e perfettamente simmetrica.
