1932/36 Casa del Fascio, Como. Giuseppe Terragni. Pietra miliare dell'architettura moderna europea, quest'opera dipana la fragranza creativa di Terragni nel quadro della poetica razionalista. È un precoce testo di «maniera», e ciò spiega perché, a distanza di più di cinquant'anni, sia oggetto di appassionati studi. Prisma perfetto, pianta quadrata con lato di m 33,20, ed altezza di 16,60 corrispondente esattamente alla metà. Impianto rigido in partenza, tale da sollecitare un travaglio accanito per bruciarne le virtualità classiciste. Quadrato e prisma sono infatti canoni del purismo corbusieriano, ma qui esso viene contestato, poiché il volume non è sospeso su pilotis, e le facciate non sono libere rispetto all'intelaiatura strutturale, anzi vi si coinvolgono per estrarne una stratificata profondità. Il risucchio dell'atrio e lo sfondamento sul cielo garantiscono la trasparenza del blocco. "Monumentalità austera, primitiva, mitica,… nessuna allegoria, nessun piacevole indugio, ...nessuna epigrafe che distragga la ricercata bellezza della frase, l'eloquenza misurata di un nome o di un cimelio'".
