Orso bruno, Gorski Kotar, Croazia, settembre 2016. Frequento questi luoghi da anni, ho sempre avvistato gli orsi ed è qui che è nata la mia passione (o sarebbe più giusto chiamarla ossessione?) per questi animali. In 4 anni ho fatto circa 30 avvistamenti, che sono pochissimi rispetto a quelli che fanno coloro che conoscono questi luoghi meglio di me e che hanno la fortuna di poterli vivere quotidianamente. Li ho sempre visti a distanze notevoli in piccole valli che qui chiamano "doline" o da capanni di caccia, all'occorrenza sfruttati furtivamente da amanti della fotografia che coltivano il sogno di poterli anche solo incrociare una volta. Quest'estate in particolare ho trascorso quasi ogni weekend di luglio e agosto al caldo di capanni con pochissimi avvistamenti e zero foto meritevoli di pubblicazione. Trovarsi difronte a pochi metri da uno di questi esemplari, senza capanni e senza separazioni, era una di quelle situazioni che temevo e al contempo sognavo e qualche giorno fa finalmente, grazie ad un gentile "postino" croato con la passione per la fotografia naturalistica son riuscito a realizzare questo sogno, un bellissimo esemplare di orsa di 7-8 anni circa di 170 chili a meno di 4 metri. L'abbiamo avuta tanto vicino da doverci sdraiare per terra, mantenendo i nervi saldi son riuscito anche a smontare il 500mm e a fare ritratti col 105mm + 1.4x con l'orsa a pochi metri.
