La Chiesa di San Domenico, ora Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista, sorge in Via Mastrangelo, ai margini del centro storico di Savona. L'edificio fu eretto nel 1567, al posto di una più antica chiesa distrutta quando fu costruita la Fortezza del Priamàr. La chiesa attuale ha una facciata del 1735 di gusto rococò, divisa in due parti. Nella parte inferiore si aprono i tre portali (i due laterali sormontati da oculi), mentre nell'alzato della navata maggiore tre aperture illuminano l'interno. L'interno fu fortemente rimaneggiato tra la fine dell'Ottocento e l'inizio del Novecento, ma furono mantenuti l'impianto a tre navate su pilastri e le cappelle del XII secolo. Tutte le superfici interne sono riccamente decorate a partire dalla cupola, che conserva affreschi di Raffaello Resio. In controfacciata: Gloria di San Domenico di Paolo Gerolamo Brusco; nella seconda cappella a destra San Vincenzo Ferreri di Giovanni Agostino Ratti; nella cappella a destra della maggiore un'interessante Madonna con bambino incorniciata dai misteri del rosario rappresentati da quindici medaglioni di marmo (questi ultimi opera di Francesco Schiaffino); nella quarta cappella a sinistra Madonna con sante e San Domenico di Paolo Gerolamo Piola. Altre opere notevoli sono una Adorazione dei Magi attribuita al pittore fiammingo Hans Memling, un presepe del genovese Antonio Semino, una Madonna recante l'immagine di San Domenico del genovese Paolo Girolamo Piola, una Madonna della Misericordia del savonese Bartolomeo Guidobono. Sulla volta si possono ammirare gli affreschi del Brusco.
