Beautiful the ecstatic expression. It makes me think of the derviches tourneurs who turn on the spines and turn all around the room of F. Babu. ;-)

I don't know if it's true, but they say that at some point they enter into a trance, a moment of absolute abstraction from the surrounding reality.
You've lived this live experience, can you tell us about it? From the expression it would seem to you. :-o

It is one of the oldest manifestations of eastern mysticism and has as its purpose the spiritual ascent of being to God through the rotational motion that is precisely natural phenomena (the motion of the planets, the cyclicality of the seasons etc.). It actually seems that the dervishes reach a mystical trance due to both the rotation and the hypnotic rhythm of the music that accompanies their dance. They wear a white robe reminiscent of a shroud and a tall hat reminiscent of the tombstone. Their rotational dance (again counterclockwise) leads them to detach the spirit from the body.

... It is a Sufi.... or at least Sufi inspiration.
Rumi or Mevlana founder of the Confratenita or Tariqua of Whirling dervishes... go read something of this great "enlightened" and you will understand that mysticism even if it comes from the shores that put us away is always universal and touches the heart of all.
to believe, try the Sufi dance where they practise it, and as he often repeats in his poems Mevlana:
.... you know who I am
are you....

I confirm everything you wrote and I join the very right story of Robbot...
I can assure you that it is really so. It's a liberating dance and at the same time overwhelming... like a breath. Sometimes it is accompanied by Celtic music.
is a "mystical" pleasure to see this picture! A lot.. But very beautiful!
Happy Birthday!

Karen A. Venice... there's a place where they practice it in those parts... Do you know him? Maybe you practice it because of the type of response ;-)

I'm glad to have been the means of a potential meeting... paraphrasing Dante: "Galeotta was the photo and who snapped it" ;-)
A dear greeting to both
