Actually the photo is the result of a remarkable crop compared to the original shot that included other houses on the right of the image, I was in fact in a very small village in the north of Iceland. Isolated yes but not entirely "abandoned" in the wilderness. In fact I also continued for about fifteen km on a dirt road in the direction of the mountains in the background, I stopped only when now the road was completely snow and no longer viable :-)
