#Verde#Foglie Acanthus mollis L. - Acanto comune - Descrizione: Pianta erbacea perenne di notevoli dimensioni (50-120 cm), con lunghi fusti fioriferi sublegnosi ed eretti che si innalzano dal centro di grosse rosette di foglie. Foglie basali sparsamente villose nella pagina superiore, pubescenti sulle nervature della pagina sottostante e sul picciolo, lunghe fino a 80 cm, hanno la lamina verde brillante, più scura di sopra, a contorno spatolato, pennatopartite con lobi profondamente inciso-dentati; le foglie superiori più piccole (1,5-4 x-1-2,5 cm), sessili, con profilo ovato-lanceolato, spinose all'apice L'infiorescenza a spiga cilindrica densa con numerosi fiori che hanno il calice bilabiato con il labbro superiore violaceo, più grande, a forma di cappuccio. Corolla ridotta ad un solo labbro inferiore, trilobato, pubescente, di colore biancastro con venature purpuree. 4 stami arcuati saldati alla corolla, filamenti glabri, antere pelose nella parte inferiore, ovario supero, biloculare, ovoide e peloso all'apice, stilo più lungo degli stami. Al fianco dei fiori sono grandi bratte lunghe sino a 4 cm ovato-lanceolate con denti spinosi ai margini e all'apice. Il frutto è una capsula loculicida bivalve ad apertura esplosiva, con due grossi semi per loculo, bruno-nerastri che vengono proiettati a distanza.
