Castello di Grinzane Cavour Sede dell'Enoteca Regionale Piemontese Cavour e del Museo delle Langhe Il castello di Grinzane Cavour è una fortificazione medioevale situata a Grinzane Cavour in provincia di Cuneo. Fu costruito fra il XIII e XIV secolo. Camillo Benso Conte di Cavour vi giunse nel 1830, ospite degli zii, la famiglia De Tonnerre. Dal 2014 è un bene protetto dall'UNESCO . Il castello, si presenta come un imponente edificio a pianta rettangolare con un mastio che occupa tutta un'ala, ed una fabbrica a "U" ornata da una serie di torrette: due quadrate e due, esterne e pensili, a pianta rotonda. Camillo Benso conte di Cavour aveva ventidue anni quando nel 1832 arrivò al castello di Grinzane. Carlo Alberto ne aveva chiesto il licenziamento dall'esercito e il padre, il marchese Michele, pensò allora di mandare quel figlio indisciplinato e originale nella tenuta di circa duecento ettari acquistata nel 1815 dalla cognata Vittoria de Sellon. segnò una svolta per il castello, e per la storia del vino. Cavour fece piantare duecentomila nuove viti. Fu subito nominato sindaco e veniva chiamato a risolvere beghe locali, a volte molto private, come la contesa per una bella tabaccaia, «la salinera». Cavour si ingaggiò subito per fare un vino decente, alla maniera di Bordeaux. Certo, il Nebbiolo abboccato che già si produceva non era male, migliore del denso Barbera destinato ai contadini, ma la qualità del prodotto era lontana dagli standard francesi. Il fattore Giovanni Bosco cominciò a invecchiare il Nebbiolo in botti di rovere . Nel 1846 furono acquistate mille bottiglie in Francia, cento destinate al Nebbiolo invecchiato della vendemmia 1844. Era la prima annata di Barolo certificata, apprezzata, pare, anche alla mensa dei Savoia. Uomo politico e diplomatico, fu proprio Cavour a porre le basi del progetto politico, nonché a conseguire l'unificazione della nostra penisola facendo leva non tanto sull'aspetto militare, quanto sulla diplomazia e sul trionfo delle libertà costituzionali e civili, in cui credeva strenuamente. Nella situazione spinosa in cui verteva l'Italia prima dell'unificazione, la figura di Cavour ebbe un'importanza storica fondamentale: se a nord, infatti, si faceva sempre più pressante la presenza austriaca, a sud il regno borbonico era già stato assoggettato al dominio dello stato oltralpe. Cavour riuscì a destreggiarsi tra le difficoltà, portando a compimento il suo progetto. Un risultato importante di cui, però, Cavour non riuscì a vedere gli sviluppi, poiché morì pochi mesi dopo l'unificazione, nel 1861. Durante questa permanenza in Piemonte, ho avuto il piacere di conoscere l'amico Simone "Simokashi" e sua moglie Paola.
