Pieris rapae - Nome comune: Cavolaia minore La cavolaia minore è forse la farfalla più facile da avvistare in Italia, la sua distribuzione è così capillare che è difficile trovare un luogo in cui non sia presente. E' anche dotata di grandi capacità dispersive e, in base a queste premesse non è difficile credere che sia stata osservata in tutte le isole dell'Arcipelago Toscano. Anche questa specie mostra il tipico dimorfismo sessuale delle Pieris e il maschio si distingue dalla femmina per la presenza di una sola macchia nera sulle ali anteriori. Vola dall'inizio della primavera fino a tutto l'autunno in almeno tre generazioni. Lungo il santuario la si può incontrare molto frequentemente soprattutto nella pineta.
