Questo raro insetto è presente in Francia , Repubblica Ceca , Germania , Italia , Spagna e Svizzera . Gli adulti raggiungono 25 millimetri (0.98 in) di lunghezza, con un'apertura alare di 45-55 millimetri (1.8-2.2 in) e possono essere incontrate da aprile a luglio nelle zone ad alta erba. Il corpo è di colore nero e molto peloso.
