L'Armeria Reale, allestita all'interno della Galleria Beaumont di Palazzo Reale, venne aperta al pubblico nel 1837 per volere di Carlo Alberto per ospitare tutte le armi antiche possedute dai diversi stabilimenti e in particolare quelle provenienti dagli Arsenali di Torino e di Genova, insieme a quelle dell'Università e delle raccolte private dei sovrani. In quello stesso anno, re Carlo Alberto acquistò l'importante collezione di armi dello scenografo milanese Alessandro Sanquirico. La raccolta venne incrementata nel tempo con ulteriori acquisizioni, tra cui le armi e le armature dei conti Martinengo della Fabbrica e la donazione delle armi orientali appartenute a Carlo Vidua di Casale.
