Il convitto ospitava le ragazze dai 13 ai 20 anni che per lavoro vivevano lontano dalla famiglia. Molte donne provenienti dalla bassa Val di Susa rientravano a casa soltanto la domenica, altre che giungevano da distanze maggiori tornavano dai parenti solo d'estate. Le suore vigilavano sulle 250 persone che si potevano ospitare. Nel seminterrato vi erano le cucine, la cappella, ed il refettorio. Nei giorni festivi alcune insegnanti impartivano lezioni di economia domestica, cucito, ricamo, rammendo, cucina, contabilità e igiene. Coprendo una parte delle spese per la quota di vitto ed alloggio le operaie avevano assicurato il letto, la biancheria e tre pasti al giorno.
