The Fonte Aretusa is a stretch of water on the island of Ortigia, in the oldest part of the Sicilian city, one of the most beautiful monuments of Syracuse,Its origin is the development of one of the many outlets of the water table located in the Syracuse area, the water table that also feeds the river Ciane on the opposite side of the port. It has a double circular shape, with a circular structure inside, that is a double concentric circle. In the Aretusa spring is set the legend of Aretusa and Alfeo, one of the most fascinating myths of Syracuse. The visual charm of a source of fresh water that reaches underground to the island and then pour its waters into the sea, has certainly fascinated many poets and writers such as: Pindar, Mosco, Ovid, Virgil, D'Annunzio, from John Milton in Licida and Alexander Pope in Dunciad; recounted by historians: Timaeus, Pausanias, Diodorus Siculus, Strabo, Cicero; depicted by the Cima and Eveneto Syracusani monetieri; music by the Polish composer Karol Szymanowski #OraBlu
