Davide Ero adolescente, metà anni '90: con la mia famiglia passavamo le vacanze estive girando la Sicilia. Non solo i luoghi allora in voga, cercavamo di scoprire anche quelli meno frequentati, seguendo i suggerimenti di un epico speciale di Bellitalia. Un anno capitammo a Palazzolo: il teatro, i Santoni... E quella piazza, alle cinque del pomeriggio... Decine di uomini seduti ai tavoli, pantaloni scuri e camicia bianca, noi palesemente "forestieri": si girarono tutti al nostro passaggio. È, ancora oggi, uno dei ricordi più "veri" che conservo della Sicilia, terra che amo e nella quale ho parte delle mie radici.
Ho riconosciuto subito la chiesa dalla miniatura e sono subito volato lì con la mente.
