Anche se mi sono sempre piaciuti gli animali e gli artisti del circo, ad essere sincero non ricordo l'ultima volta che ho visto uno spettacolo dal vivo. Qualche tempo fa ho iniziato un progetto fotografico che riguarda proprio lo spettacolo itinerante e quindi, dopo aver fatto tante fotografie alle giostre e ai giostrai, è giunto adesso il momento di cominciare a fotografare anche il circo coi suoi artisti e i suoi animali. Come per i giostrai, anche gli artisti del circo fanno tutti parte di una grande famiglia, tutti si conoscono e tutti si vogliono bene, o almeno così pare. Quello che ho capito osservandoli da vicino è che fanno una vita piena di sacrifici. Da fuori può sembrare bello spostarsi ogni giorno da una città all'altra ma non è tutto oro quel che luccica, ci sono tante difficoltà da affrontare e ogni giorno è sempre una scommessa. Secondo il mio modesto parere, lo spettacolo itinerante trova nel circo la sua massima espressione. Ogni anno si vedono attrazioni nuove e sempre più difficili. Non ci s'improvvisa artisti di circo, dietro c'è sempre tanta fatica e tanti anni di studio. La fatica non è soltanto quella dell'artista ma soprattutto di chi, fuori dai riflettori, permette la realizzazione dello spettacolo, montando il tendone, pulendo la pista o dando da mangiare agli animali. Dentro il circo non è solo chi viene illuminato dall'occhio di bue a fare lo spettacolo ma anche chi, in silenzio, lavora affinché tutto proceda bene. . . . Spero vi piaccia . . .
