Castel dell'Alpi è una frazione di San Benedetto Val di Sambro (Bo) ed il suo attuale insediamento è sul versante destro del torrente Savena. Il laghetto si formò a seguito di una frana sul lato sinistro nel 1951 dove, dopo il crollo, è rimasta solo la vecchia Chiesa di San Biagio che ora è sconsacrata e che è stata sostituita con quella nuova il cui campanile è visibile sulla sinistra di questa fotografia.
