Felice Pedroni. Nacque nel 1858, ultimo di sei fratelli, nella località Casa Biagio nella frazione di Trignano; rimasto orfano di padre giovanissimo, la vita dura che lo aspettava e la miseria della famiglia lo spinsero, come tanti connazionali, ad emigrare all'estero dapprima in Francia nel 1881, poi negli Stati Uniti nel 1883. All'interno degli Stati Uniti Felice Pedroni, diventato Felix Pedro si spostò spesso toccando gli Stati di Illinois, Colorado, Utah, Oregon, Washington, sempre all'inseguimento di occasioni lavorative migliori. Fece il bracciante, il minatore nelle miniere di carbone… ma presto si fece trascinare da quella che per alcuni fu davvero una malattia: la febbre dell'oro. Questa lo portò inizialmente in Canada, tra il 1892 ed il 1893 e poi in Alaska nel 1894. Le sua vicende si fanno via via più avventurose a testimonianza di una volontà di riuscire sostenuta da una caparbietà non comune che lo aiutò a sopravvivere anche nelle occasioni disperate. Il premio per le sue fatiche arrivò il 22 luglio 1902 con la scoperta dell'oro nel fondo del torrente che ora si chiama Pedro Creek. Pedroni riuscì ad ottenere la concessione statale per l'estrazione e divenne nel giro di pochi mesi il presidente del nuovo Distretto minerario di Fairbanks fondato l'8 settembre 1902 proprio nella sua baracca. La ricerca dell'oro diede buoni frutti e, presto, nella zona sorse un'agglomerato di abitazioni che sarebbe stato il primo nucleo della attuale città di Fairbanks.
