Agosto 1985. Recupero da dia, la qualità è scadente. Il Konigspitze (Gran Zebrù) m. 3851, la vetta più elevata a sx, visto dalla cima del Monte Zebrù. Il Gran Zebrù è il secondo punto più elevato, dopo l'Ortles, della regione Trentino-Alto Adige. Il confine tra quest'ultima e la Lombardia (provincia di Sondrio per essere precisi) passa esattamente per la cima, facendo di essa la più elevata vetta "lombarda" del massiccio, e tra le più alte della regione, superata solo da alcuni picchi del gruppo del Bernina. Si può notare la meringa, ovvero un mensolone di ghiaccio che sporgeva sulla parete nord dalla vetta. Fu vinta per la prima volta da Kurt Diemberger, austriaco, uno dei massimi esponenti dell'alpinismo mondiale, e come compagno di cordata Albert Morocutti. Nel 2001 la "meringa" crollò e il boato fu sentito fino all'abitato di Solda. Ho inserito questa panoramica come testimonianza dell'intensa copertura ghiacciata che ricopriva le Alpi in quegli anni. Poi con il surriscaldamento terrestre quelle immense distese si sono talmente ridotte da rendere quasi irriconoscibili questi maestosi paesaggi.
