Craco (Cracum o Graculum in latino) è un comune italiano di 762 abitanti della provincia di Matera in Basilicata. Negli anni sessanta a causa di una frana di vaste proporzioni Craco iniziò ad essere evacuata e parte degli abitanti si trasferì a valle, in località "Craco Peschiera". L'evacuazione lo ha reso una vera e propria città fantasma e per tale caratteristica è diventato una meta turistica ed un set cinematografico per vari film. La frana che ha obbligato la popolazione ad abbandonare le proprie case sembra essere stata provocata da lavori di infrastrutturazione, fogne e reti idriche, a servizio dell'abitato. Nel 1972 un'alluvione peggiorò ulteriormente la situazione, impedendo un'eventuale ripopolazione del centro storico e dopo il terremoto del 1980 Craco vecchia venne completamente abbandonata.
