LA STATUA DEL REDENTORE DI NUORO Il Cristo di Jerace e la festa La Statua del Redentore di Nuoro è una manifestazione dell'arte italiana del primo Novecento. L'opera risale al 1901, anno della sua installazione sulla cima del monte Ortobene. L'artista è lo scultore Vincezo Jerace, cui fu commissionata in vista del Giubileo per volere di papa Leone XIII. Jerace compì così la sua opera, una statua alta ben 4 metri, dal peso di circa 2 tonnellate, posizionata su un piedistallo, che rappresenta il Cristo con la veste lunga svolazzante e una grande croce fra le braccia, innalzata al cielo. Oggi è il punto focale della festa a lui dedicata. Il significato della statua del redentore Che la statua rappresenti il Redentore è evidente a chiunque la osservi. Tuttavia, a lungo ci si è interrogati sul senso e l'identità del volto scolpito dietro il piede destro del Redentore. Si tratta di un bambino, a lungo considerato un angioletto o un diavoletto.
