#Dragonflies Crocothemis erythraea (Brullé, 1832) DESCRIZIONE Specie dalla livrea scarlatta nei maschi maturi e giallastra nelle femmine e nei maschi immaturi (nelle femmine vecchie, anche bruno-chiaro o rossastra). Sia i maschi che le femmine possiedono una vistosa macchia gialla alla base delle ali posteriori. E' più grande e robusta di tutte le specie di Sympetrum (dall'addome pure rosso) dalle quali si differenzia anche per l'addome depresso. ECOLOGIA Gli adulti si rinvengono da aprile a ottobre. Le larve si sviluppano in acque ferme, poco profonde e calde, ma anche in lanche, stagni, torbiere, risaie e stagni retrodunali salmastri. DISTRIBUZIONE In Italia è una delle specie più comuni ed è presente in tutte le regioni. FONTE: http://www.odonata.it
