La borra, lunga circa 7 cm., è stata rinvenuta sotto uno dei posatoi abituali del gufo. Come sapete, le borre sono formate dall'accumulo di parti di prede non digerite, che poi il soggetto elimina rigurgitandole. Dall'esame delle stesse si può risalire alla dieta dell'uccello, dopo aver esaminato e identificato la provenienza del loro contenuto, costituito soprattutto da peli e ossa. In questo caso si tratta di residui di Rattus norvegicus, il comune Topo di fogna o Surmolotto. Sulla destra si può riconoscere una delle mandibole inferiori con il relativo incisivo.
