E' uno dei fari più antichi dalla Spagna. Costruito nel 1817. Torre con robusta muratura, lanterna rotonda e galleria.Tutto il faro è verniciato di bianco. Uno dei più antichi e storici fari della Spagna, questa torre ha vissuto una vita movimentata. Il faro è stato danneggiato da un terremoto nel 1898 e non del tutto riparato fino al 1913. È stato inoltre danneggiato dall'artiglieria durante la guerra civile spagnola del 1930; doveva essere ampiamente riparato e rinnovato già alla vigilia della seconda guerra mondiale, nel 1939. Il faro di Malaga è conosciuto affettuosamente con il nome di Farola (termine utilizzato solo per identificare un paio di piccole torri faro costruite nella penisola iberica).
