Southampton Docks, 8.00 a.m. this morning. 1000mm equivalent focal length; 500mm on DX, with extra 1.3x crop feature of the D7100.
Monopod used on a narrow cycle/pedestrian lane next to very busy main road. It would have been impossible to use a tripod, with bikes whizzing past several times a minute, due to it being rush hour. Not that the BeFree tripod I had could support such a lens, anyway! It would collapse in a heap!
The sun very soon disappeared behind the bank of cloud you can see just clipping the top of the sun - and it never appeared again. Very disappointing.
Carrying around the 3kg D7100/150-500mm combination plus monopod and BeFree (used for earlier wider night shots) - and other lenses - all morning means now that I am VERY very VERY tired and now need a LONG rest!
