1/15 f/2.3, ISO 1000, hand held. Thessaloniki, Greece.

Derveni Refugee Camp | Thessaloniki, Greece Wait: this is what the life of an asylum seeker becomes after he had to overcome enormous sufferings and face great dangers. Suffering, however, does not end with the arrival in Europe and with the accomodation inside one of the numerous refugee camps both regular and irregular. Suffering is administered through wait and it's accompanied by uncertainty about every possible future. Life becomes a Limbo, where anguish becomes oppressive, hope is worn out, resiliency is drained and life is humpered. All of this, joined to the terrible life conditions of the camps, wrenches the human fiber up to the fracture, which manifests itself with depression, violent acts towards oneself and others and a progressive, unrelenting dehumanization. Humanity has often distinguished itself for it's ability to make possible the impossible, but as long as we will not see richness in the different, and in ourselves too, all we are going to obtain are just generations of shuttered lives. Let's go back to dare and let's make our achievements belong not to the past but to the future.
