“L'uomo non può scoprire nuovi oceani se non ha il coraggio di perdere di vista la riva”, così scriveva il grande autore francese André Gide. Una mantra a cui mi sento particolarmente vicino. Un'esortazione ad andare oltre per cercare il proprio percorso. Quando la fotografia viene utilizzata come forma espressiva, all'interno di quelle proiezioni che si tramutano in immagini, ci siamo noi. Con il nostro modo di essere. Talvolta esprimiamo stati d'esaltazione, altre volte di malinconia e via dicendo. Da qui si evince la necessità di immedesimarsi in ciò che osserviamo o comunque divenirne parte integrante. Nel mio caso, i primi viaggi verso i remoti territori del Nord Ovest Scozzese, hanno letteralmente rappresentato una sorta di distacco dalle rive a cui ero ancorato da diverso tempo, ma che temevo di abbandonare, perchè di fatto mi avevano dato un senso (fotograficamente parlando).Oggi riguardando immagini come questa, non posso fare altro che identificarmi nello spazio, tempo ed essenzialità di un paesaggio cangiante. La costante ricerca del percorso, non è piú un'ossessione, ma la naturale voglia di "essere", che di fatto nel mio caso si tramuta nella sublimazione della libertá. Dunque, alla fine il percorso l'ho trovato, ma oltre quelle isole all'orizzonte, so che vi sará un'altra riva da cui allontanarsi e ripartire.

As with all my pictures that portray the "traditional" landscape in a single exposition. The depth of the field is due to the fact that the first floor was not particularly close. In fact, in order not to miss out on the beautiful textures on the beach, I preferred to keep it at least 1m high. Consequently I found it much easier to set in butoptimum the hyperfocal.
