Questa mattina il fondovalle era scuro; le nebbie, scollinando le creste, si lasciavano cadere verso la bassa. Difficile dire se valesse la pena salire fin lassù: al Lago delle Monache, per una questione aperta con un ermellino inafferrabile...Però, qualcosa mi diceva che quella strana coltre non doveva essere molto spessa; probabilmente cercava solo malamente di coprire un bel cielo azzurro! Così ho deciso di tentare. Quando ho raggiunto in auto le Grange della Valle, sinceramente, non è che la situazione si presentasse poi così rosea come l'avevo immaginata...ma, incamminatomi comunque, pian piano, passo dopo passo, ho raggiunto il pian delle Selle dove mi son ritrovato accerchiato da un rugolare di forcelli che nemmeno ad aprile! E guarda caso, poco più in alto, appena sopra la Chabriere, ho pure iniziato ad intravedere qualche frangia di celeste chiaro che bucava quel cupo grigiore...Incoraggiato da quei segni ho ripresa la marcia, determinato ad uscire dalla nebbia e raggiungere finalmente il fondo dell'ermellino, quando, improvvisamente, uno sfrascare tra i rododendri accompagnato dallo schianto di qualche pietra mi ha bloccato cieco, nel grigio che ancora mi avvolgeva. Ma che diavolo c'è adesso? All'orecchio teso è subito giunto quel "prrret-prrrret" dei camosci in calore che, accompagnato da qualche loro fischio, mi hanno suggerito chi fosse ad agitare il sottobosco...Uscito finalmente dalla nebbia, a circa 2300 metri, un irto pratone dorato si estendeva davanti ai miei occhi, riflettendo la calda luce di una splendida giornata di sole! Il tempo di riprendere fiato e quei diavoli neri, che poco prima si inseguivano tra le pietraie avvolte dalla nebbia, già correvano lassù, in mezzo all'oro del mio pratone...
