Solo nel rosso outback australiano a qualche centinaio di chilometri in ogni direzione da qualunque insediamento per quanto minuscolo sia. Mangio in fretta, finchè ho luce per muovermi, i resti di un pollo arrosto preso ieri. Sistemo per la notte. Connessione inesistente e stavolta non c'è proprio, visto che nemmeno il telefono australiano capta qualcosa. Fortunatamente. Mi risentirò con il mondo domani. Stanotte è solo mia. Una serie di ululati molto vicini a cui rispondono altri in lontananza. Dovrebbero essere dei Dingo che sono una sorta di cani della prateria. Incontrati nell'altro viaggio, non dovrebbero essere pericolosi. In pochi passi sono in cima alle rocce. Il sole è tramontato da poco. L'oscurità sta avvolgendo tutto. Le ultime coloratissime luci esaltano la parte di orizzonte che per ultima è stata abbandonata dal sole, ma non mi consentono di distinguere nulla che sia anche solo a dieci metri. Per scendere devo utilizzare la torcia.
