Monumento simbolo della Regione Piemonte e luogo che ha ispirato lo scrittore Umberto Eco per il best-seller Il nome della Rosa, la Sacra di San Michele è un'antichissima abbazia costruita tra il 983 e il 987 sulla cima del monte Pirchiriano, a 40 km da Torino. Dall'alto dei suoi torrioni si possono ammirare il capoluogo piemontese e un panorama mozzafiato della Val di Susa. All'interno della Chiesa principale della Sacra, risalente al XII secolo, sono sepolti membri della famiglia reale di Casa Savoia. Dedicata al culto dell'Arcangelo Michele, difensore del popolo cristiano, la Sacra di San Michele s'inserisce all'interno di una via di pellegrinaggiolunga oltre 2000km che va da Mont Saint-Michel, in Francia, a Monte Sant'Angelo, in Puglia.
