I like your assessements, you are finding always words who describe it perfect. For me it's often difficult.
But one thing i have to disadmit: Not all my shots are stories. Sadly. I work on it. And i produce a lot of rubbish i don't show here... See? Maybe 10% of my shots are on that level. And thats pretty low!
Work on it to lift this level...

I think that no one has a hit rate of 100%. One of the most known photographer said: if you are able to make a good picture a month you are a very good photographer.
The shots I throw away are incountable. My personal rate is much lower than your 10%  , but I'm realistic. It means that some times the subject, the situation, the expectations are against me, some times is me, some times it works and normally the perfect moment appears rarely, even if your are constantly looking for it.
I'm watching the pictures, also your ones, to better understand which are the ingredients to reach the goal of be able to tell a story in one frame. It is a long way, but I hope, day by day, shot after shot, I'm able to move closer to the target I'll never reach. This is one of the things I love. You have something new to learn every moment and if you look in your past, you may see the difference, you may perceive your growth.
Go on Chris, you are on the right track, the results I see are testimonials of what you have done. Go on searching and do not set limits. You have a huge potential.
