Le vigogne sono animali selvatici che le popolazioni locali radunano stagionalmente per poterle tosare e così fare i tessuti con la pregiatissima lana.Il loro habitat naturale è quello degli altopiani andini,come nella Reserva National Salinas y Aguada Blanca dove si trovano alcuni dei vulcani più imponenti e attivi del Sudamerica. Il vulcano più affascinante della zona,sia per l'imponenza (5822 m),sia perche si eleva isolato sull'altopiano, è sicuramente il Vulcano attivo El Misti.
