at 550mm, 1/1600 f/6.3, ISO 1600, hand held. Samburu National Reserve, Kenya. Specie: Lycaon pictus

#wild

good photo.in botswana, zimbabwe and zambia are still abundant.in south africa are worse because in the fenced parks (albeit as immense as the kruger) the pressure of lions and hyenas is too strong.theyene if in group easily steal the prey , lions instead kill them directly. Licaon is the African hunter with the highest percentage of hunting success. Even so lions do not tolerate them in their territories and persecute them by killing them at the first opportunity

Without words. You have described very well what you are trying to encounter a Licaine in nature.
Gorgeous.

Thank you friends ... it was more than exciting to believe me!
For Steff: In my 4 trips to Africa I only saw them at Samburu ... I do not know whether in Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe are abundant in wild situations (I do not think being extinct now, think that at Serengeti you see them should you send the photos and the sight of the park) ... but the main problem as always is man ... they are often driven out by the shepherds as many Licaons often hunt their cattle without having hunting territories. A serious problem that is leading to the extinction of this species ... in fact there are now many reproduction projects (even in vitro) for repopulation in reserves.
A warm greeting
Fabio

Who Takes Fabio! I did not know that the Samburu were licaons, as good as ever.

Eh yeah Max ... a nice surprise ... that I know Kruger to date is the best and easiest place to see them ... although when I was in 2014 I did not see them :-(
A greeting

Great picture with a bit of envy, never seen but I try to equip myself for next year: -D quo Steff about what's said about the areas, I add that the best place to see them is probably Mana Pools (Zimbabwe) also because there is a great deal of small-sized prey such as antelopes that are too fast for lions and almost total absence of competition (leopards, cheetahs and hellows). A greeting and compliments for all the reportage on Kenya!

Very difficult subject to see, congratulations also for the photo.
Charming animal, incredible sociality. I saw it in Tanzania in 2016, in the NgoroNGoro Conservation area, where they have not been seen for more than 20 years, and where the following year unfortunately disappeared.
